History of the El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame
The El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame was founded in 1955 by a group of prominent El Pasoans who realized that El Paso athletics owned a heritage worth preserving.
They came together to begin an annual tradition of honoring local athletes, past and present, for inclusion into the Hall. Later, additional categories for Officials, Administrators, Coaches, Trainers, Media and a posthumous award were added.
In 2001, the Hall celebrated its 45th Annual Banquet at the Tomas Rivera Conference Center on the UTEP campus.
